Cafe Henrie
For a more laidback scene, your new funky-fresh “it” cafe is on Forsyth Street on the border of Chinatown and the LES (what the kids are calling “The Lower Deck”). Delicious, healthy food in a space the owner (graffiti-artist/club owner, Andre Saraiva) refers to as an “art project”. Try a Dragon Bowl, coffee from Counter Culture and the chocolate tahini brownie.
Since Camille Becerra (formerly of Navy) took the reins at André Saraiva’s Café Henrie, the Lower East Side restaurant has become a lunchtime mecca for fans of healthful places like Dimes and El Rey. Owing to its success, Henrie is now extending its service to include dinner, and Becerra’s making a few new dishes — all simple yet boldly flavorful and, of course, Instagrammable.
